Ethos Water….
Posted by waxdot | Filed under Uncategorized
First off I apologize for the non-music related post.
So I don’t go into Starbucks very often, but today I bought a coffee there and they had a basket full of bottles of “Ethos” water. There was a poster above the basket with a picture of the typical “sad looking 3rd world country child” on it (not the same as picture as the thing posted here, but similar text). It had a paragraph on it with a headline that read “Every bottle makes a difference”. On the stylish looking bottles the catch phrase was “Helping children get clean water”.

Now I have no problem with charity, I think it’s fucking great as a matter of fact…but I noticed one thing that made me say “hmmmm” like C & C Music Factory. In the paragraph on the sign it said “a percentage of your purchase goes toward……” That’s when I thought, “Man I must know what this percentage is… If it’s a large percentage then this is a great charity, if not then this is the most unethical marketing I’ve ever seen.” The reason I say that is because they’re SOLE marketing strategy is that they are a charity organization….. BUT THEY ARE NOT. They are not a non-profit, they are a business that gives some money to charity.
So when I got home I looked it up and it turned out I’m not the first to notice this. A lot of other people have had the same thought in the past. And it turns out that when you buy the bottle for 1.80 they send FIVE CENTS to the charity. Don’t get me wrong, the fact that some money is helping children is a positive side product of this…. but PLEASE don’t act like a charity organiztion. Act like a water business that gives to charity. They give 3 percent of their gross sales to the cause which is their only marketing strategy. Look at the damn bottle and the poster. THIS IS A STRAIGHT UP LIE THAT PISSES ME OFF!!! This is a direct exploitation of the children you are supposed to help and also an exploitation of each person you are tricking into giving up their money. You are tossing these children scraps out of a limousine that they paid for.
Sorry, if you disagree feel free to comment.

Nobody Famous and Wax…..”Mary” vs. “Mary”
Posted by waxdot | Filed under Uncategorized

In case you’ve never heard of Nobody Famous, he’s a rapper/producer/songwriter from the Atlanta area who now lives in Los Angeles. You should check out his latest album It’s got a bunch of dope songs on there, including this one with me on it I’m about to talk about.
Originally, Famous had sent me a beat which I ended up writing this song called “Mary” on. We were all satisfied with the outcome of the song, but Famous didn’t want his album to contain any samples for obvious legal reasons. So basically he reworked the beat and made it totally original, then had me come over to his studio to rework some of the vocals for the new beat. That version of the song is now the “official” version which you hear on his album.
I am just curious what yall think as far as “which version is better”. I am just wondering because me and my brother, Herbal T, have extremely different opinions on this matter. You can check out both versions at these links then cast your vote in the poll….

Mary, Official Theatrical Version
Facebook Events for all upcoming tour shows….
Posted by waxdot | Filed under Uncategorized
Aiight, I know not everybody has a Facebook page, but a lot of people do. We have now created Facebook events for every show on the upcoming WAX AND HERBAL T LOW BUDGET MYSTERY TOUR!!
The reason we did this is to make it easier to get the word out about the shows in each area. Let’s say I know Timmy from Omaha…. I invite Timmy from Omaha on facebook then he can invite all the local people he knows in the area who might be interested via the facebook event. Those people can, if they choose to, invite all the people they know who Timmy might not have invited. It’s basically a pyramid scheme! A snowball effect could be created….. and before you know it…. even though I don’t know anyone in Omaha besides Timmy, just by inviting him I have invited THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!!!! Just a few mouse clicks and all of sudden Xargon from the planet Mercury is ordering Martinis at The Hideout in Omaha, Nebraska while watching Herbal T do his “what does the T stand for?” verse. SIMPLE AS THAT.

“MEEP ZORP, THIS FOOL CAN SPIT!”
Anywho, here’s a list of all the events. If you live in one of these areas we would really appreciate it if you could send facebook invites to all your friends to the event! If you’re not on facebook, then call your people and tell them about it….. or even just attempt to go to the event yourself! We are hoping you guys will come out and check out the shows and we are gonna try to rock as hard as we possibly can! Each event has all the info someone would need about the show.

Lack of Afro feat. Wax and Herbal T: “International”
Posted by waxdot | Filed under Uncategorized
Whattup homeboys and homegirls. Just wanted to let you all know about some new Wax and Herbal T shit that you might not be aware of….

This new single from our boy in the UK, Adam Gibbons aka Lack of Afro, just dropped today! Go to this link right here to check it out and/or buy it!
This is the first single off Lack of Afro’s upcoming album “My Groove Your Move” album which is set to drop on October 19th. We are honored that they ran with this song as the first single and we hope that people enjoy it!
Some of you may be unfamiliar with Lack of Afro or you may be asking yourself “how did you start making music with this British cat?” Well, basically me and herbs had discovered some of his stuff a few years back. We have always been very into funk music and his shit was right up our alley. We ended up making this video of ourselves rapping to one of his instrumentals:
That instrumental was Adam’s take on the song “When the Sun Goes Down” by The Arctic Monkeys. Somehow, he ended up stumbling on the video and he liked what we did over the beat. He hit me up on youtube to see if we were interested in doing some music with him. He ended up sending over the beat for “International” and me and herbs loved it. After we recorded that song I did another song that is gonna be on “My Groove Your Move” called “Suspicious Glow”. Once he showed the album to the staff at his label, they all decided to release “International” as the first single. It’s already been featured on Soccer AM, a prominent soccer show in the UK.
If you like what you hear from this single and from the video, you should also check out Lack of Afro’s last cd caled “Press On”. I highly recommend you go to his myspace page where you can check out trcks from both albums, including the brand new single “International” with WAX AND HERBAL T on it!!!!

I was just telling someone the other day that I would make music regardless of whether or not people listen to it. While that is true, to know that people are affected by it is very humbling to me. Occasionally I’ll get a message/email that really “lifts my spirits” or whatever you wanna call it. This one I got yesterday as a youtube message from my man Nate up in Ottawa. Reading shit like this really motivates me to try to create more and more. Figured I would share it.
Wax, man, dam lol. long time fan, first time writer. been following you for almost two years now and uh, recently i was on a trip in Greece, jamming to Liquid Courage, and i felt like i had to write you something before you blow up and dont read your own youtube comments anymore. anyways, the point of this is to tell you that your music, straight up, adds to my life. listening to ‘help’ running in the mountains in Greece, i feel like i had a near religious experience lol. i bump your shit everywhere i go, every car i blaze in, every ipod station my phone can fit into – wax is blaring. and when people ask who that is, i send em to youtube haha.
i just wanted to let you know that what you do matters, to me, and to lots of other people. theres a million people out there who need to hear this stuff, they just dont know it. me and my buddy are hoping to come see you in Toronto, but its a mission for us lol. Have you thought about adding a date in Ottawa? id be bringing 10 or more people myself and i can promote for you on my university campus. man im even down to scout locations for you to play at, i know all the venues.
let me know man, and save me and my buddy some spots backstage after the show in toronto if you cant make it to ottawa bro, we’ll burn you on some good canadian bud
much love
-Nate
Now that your hearts have been warmed, here’s a cartoon picture of a woman jerking off a dragon while his tongue is in her ass. (edit: actually her vagina…i am new to the female anatomy) Try not to breathe too hard there buddy you might char her ass-hair. LOL!

A couple new shows added to the tour…

Just a quick update, the Wax and Herbal T Low Budget Mystery Tour will now be stopping in Schenectady, NY on October 12th at The Moon and River Cafe. More details in the upcoming shows section. This show is FREE and ALL AGES! Also since we couldn’t find an actual show in Minneapolis because we suck at life, we are gonna hit up the Harrison’s Happy Hour Open Mic at a place called Merlin’s Rest. They said we could do a short set. That show is also FREE and ALL AGES.
I’ve been working on some new Wax and EOM stuff that EOM doesn’t even know about yet. Hopefully I can get this album done sooner than anticipated.

Whattup truckies. In case you didn’t already know, me and Herbal T are doing a 15 day tour of the US and Canada. Peep the video we made to promote it:
I wish we could do a longer tour but we have some other things going on that make that impossible. We plan on doing another one soon where we hit up more places, including the south and northern cali, in the near future. If you live in Albuquerque, Albany, or Minneapolis and you think you can hook us up with a show, hit me up and let me know. We are still looking to book those shows. Also, we’re gonna try to do some early shows in many of the towns for all the people that want to see us but are under 21. If you know of a spot don’t hesitate to let us know!
Besides that I’m still waiting on my check from A1 Steak Sauce, should be hear in two weeks or so. Herbal T and I are preparing for the tour and I’m working on new songs with EOM. I hope all is well with yall!
