email i got….

The following is an email somebody randomly forwarded to me. I usually don’t even read these things but I thought this shit was cool.

A boat docked in a tiny Mexican village. An American tourist complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.

“Not very long,” answered the Mexican.

“But then, why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more?” asked the American.

The Mexican explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family.

The American asked, “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

“I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs. I have a full life.”

The American interrupted, “I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat.”

“And after that?” asked the Mexican.

“With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York City! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise.”

“How long would that take?” asked the Mexican.

“Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years,” replied the American.

“And after that?”

“Afterwards? Well my friend, that’s when it gets really interesting,” answered the American, laughing. “When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!”

“Millions? Really? And after that?” asked the Mexican.

“After that you’ll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends.”

And the moral of this story is: ……… Know where you’re going in life… you may already be there.

Do you think it would be OK?

This is my new video I just uploaded last night. I just woke up one day and started doing this shit. Music is weird man the more you try to make it “your job” the more you realize that it doesn’t work like that. Once you start putting “to do lists” together that throw songwriting in with business-esque tasks the harder it is to do those songs. I’ve been trying to force a lot of stuff recently, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. The Esmee Denters remix for example was a to do list item that worked, and the stuff I tried to do this past Monday night was an EPIC FAIL and resulted in me being pissed off that I essentially wasted a bunch of time. Usually the good shit just comes from out of nowhere. I guess that’s God or whatever you wanna call it.

Anywho, I really like this one a lot. It makes me happy. I hope yall like it too.

Esmee Denters “Admit It” (Wax and Herbal T Remix)

So for those of you that don’t know, I now have a manager that has been working in the music industry for several years now. His name is Sam Shulman and he’s a good ass dude. He’s originally from Detroit and he came out to LA to pursue a career in the music business. He started as an intern at Interscope Records and worked his way up for four years to get a position in the A&R department. He didn’t get the job from his dad/uncle/etc. like most of the people in the music industry. Regardless, he’s about to get laid off so all that shit is neither here nor there..

Anyway, Sam was able to get some Wax and Herbal T Youtube videos in front of Ken Komisar, president of Tennman Records, a label owned by Mouseketeer-turned-Megastar Justin Timberlake. We ended up meeting him at his office and exchanging some words. He didn’t give us 8 million dollars and some “get your dick sucked for free” cards like we were hoping for, but he did give us the pro tools session files for “Admit It”, the latest single from their biggest artist Esmee Denters.

Me and herbs love doing this kind of shit!

The Wax and Ajax show back in FULL FUCKING FORCE.

Wax and Ajax are at it again! It’s been damn near two years since we started doing The Wax and Ajax Show and it keeps getting better and better. I’m really excited for this one coming up this Friday because a) my brother is gonna be performing with me and b) my boy Dumbfoundead is gonna be doing a set. Of course we got some great stand up comics doing their thing as well. Eric Andre, Dan Bialek, and Ron Babcock all plan to tear shit up.

Herbal T and I haven’t performed together since October so we are amped the fuck up for the show. Plus it’s rare we have a rapper as a musical act on the Wax and Ajax show….and Dumbfoundead is a bad motherfucker. For those of you that aren’t familiar, DFD is a Los Angeles native who has been doing shows here since he was a little kid. In recent years his name has gotten out heavily to the masses through being a beast in the Grind Time battle circuit, and also because of his relentless tour schedule and dedication to his craft. Check out some of his work below……..

Hope to see yall there! If you don’t live around here call your family and friends who do!!!!

New Wax and EOM joint “Feel This” live

So a couple weeks ago I performed at the 4th Anniversary party of TSM Radio at Les Deux in Hollywood. I did two Wax and EOM songs, “Feel This” and “Money”. “Money” actually ended up winning the award for TSM’s song of the year! It was a really cool night that also featured performances by The Pricks, Lukas Rossi (winner of Rockstar Supernova, a show that I was actually a big fan of and watched almost every episode of), and Elliott Yamin of American Idol fame. They were all great performances but of course mine was not only the best of the night but the best performance ever in the history of mankind. The LA Weekly said that “wax’s performance at the tsm 4th anniversary show was much more brilliant than God’s creation of the Earth and all the animals and what not.” Anywho, here’s the performance of “Feel This”, some new shit that will be on me and EOM’s next album.
